Last week aside, the past few weeks of my life have been as uneventful as they could've been. Last Monday our higher-ups came to a conclusion that the local team drew on day one (Prejudiced? Maybe), which was that the core of the program was not workable enough to get something pretty enough to release, so we replaced the whole damn thing in a different language that I'm unfamiliar with. As of that day, pretty much all of my work time has gone into learning this new thing (C#). I also lost my will to game about a week ago. Generally anything I played, I either sucked at or was just boring. This conclusion was reasonably upsetting.
Last Thursday was a holiday, so I took Friday off and stated some goals for the weekend. They got augmented when I found an angry letter from the landlord that we were supposed to clean up this pigsty or he would have it done on our costs. This ticked me off for a great many amount of reasons: First off, I'm still not over stoner and bitch + entourage that were not capable of living with other people and made our lives a hell, landlord never bothered to come check up when all four rooms were rented out, but now that one of the places is for rent, he's suddenly breathing down our necks, without any prior phone call, more pleasant reminder or anything, and RIGHT after I cleaned the friggin' toilet (which was one of the things he was pissy about). Damn thing was whiter than it ever was (Thank you, Harpic XD).
So I sat there, trying to calm down, only to get more enraged with every second that passed, until I decided to just let it go by calling him. After a pretty intense 5-minute rant about pretty much everything from the last paragraph, he admitted he may have been a little anxious, what with everything not going his way (his store isn't doing well, a couple of his houses are running a loss, pretty much everything I couldn't care less about), he tried to make me see things his way, and justify his angry tone. I proceeded in turning it all around, and explained how I can't help it that he's made some poor choices, and that he shouldn't lose oversight over the great amount of ventures he purchased. In the end he apologized for his tone, and purely for the sake of relations, I apologized as well, even though I meant every word I said.
So I cleaned most of my room, and (with my brother) pretty much all of the house, which also has never been this clean, and Saturday I went out to shop for a floor for the apartment. I ended up ok-ing a slightly more expensive floor, but instead of the planned laminate I went for parquetry, which will apparently increase effectiveness of my floor heater, reduce sound and was only slightly more expensive than proper laminate (discount batch at dump price, win!). Still, it's another financial setback and the laying cost were so high, I'm going to have to do that part myself. Gonna have to buy glue, laying equipment and oils myself. The rest (including floor skirts and transportation(!)) was included in the fees. I did end up spending all of May's paycheck, including the holiday bonus. I have my financial backup though, so I'll be fine. ^_^
The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful, with generally nice weather (OPEN WINDOWS ZOMG!). Thanks to Steam, I (FINALLY) discovered Assassin's Creed, and I'm really hooked. I now have both part I and II, and might end up buying the other two parts as well, some time in the future, depending on how I finish I and II. I must admit, AC has really given me faith in the modern-day gaming industry again. Even though the game itself is reasonably repetitive and easy, the story and their creative way of showing beautiful maps is a large redeemer. Besides, easy can be fun - especially when you get to pounce a guy and drive a hidden blade into his neck with awesome cutscenes (no pun intended).
Another thing I've been doing is catching up sleep, probably hitting the 48 hours in the last four days, resulting in a shift of my awake hours, which didn't help when I went to bed at 11 last night - fell asleep at 2 and I'm dead tired now. XD Still pretty relaxed, seeing as I got a lot of stuff done. Now I'm slightly anxious about the planning of the apartment. Painting, flooring, kitchen... It's all got to be done in a reasonably narrow timespan, methinks...
Games I've played recently: Dungeons And Dragons Online (Eberron), Total Annihilation Works Project, Audition Online and Assassin's Creed.
