You're China!
Jan. 11th, 2012 06:28 pmWell, fan-damn-tastic. Instead of advocating free internet (which we are trying so damn hard to get to China), we, the Dutch, have started our own little internet censoring. Our local copyright club (Brein, ironically it's Dutch for brain. Why, who can tell) has won a lawsuit against two of our major internet service providers. They are going to have to ban the IP's leading to The Pirate Bay.
While there are a thousand other torrent sites, and I never go to TPB anyway, this is terrible news. One technophobe (or worse: bribable) judge and we'll be shutting down sites left and right. Even though a couple of years back, the European court ruled against blocking (torrent) sites. It's just not right. Besides, it's not as if the original artists would see any of that 'extra money' anyway. It all goes to the 'producers', 'managers', the aforementioned bribes and the goddess knows what else. Here in Holland, part of the fees we pay our ISPs actually already go to a fund for copyright.
People that claim foreigners are ruining our culture (i.e. Sharia taking our freedom) should take a good long look to what "we" are doing to ourselves!
