I feel like a true BHV-er now
Jul. 1st, 2008 08:31 pmYes. I have had to practise my skill as an emergency aider. Not really in the company, but on the bus home. Some youngster helped an old lady get her cart into the bus, but the most horrible scenario unfolded. The cart rolled back, fell over and hit the old lady square in the foot. It took me a while to realize she was bleeding, since it happened out of sight, but when I noticed, the training kicked in immediately, it was amazing. I put her in a chair and put her foot up (to stop the bleeding), while the driver took out the first aid kit. We patched her up, but the wound was reasonably deep (I did not SEE bone, but it was deep enough). In the end we called an ambulance and they took her to the hospital.
Even more amazing was that I could quickly analyse the situation. The wound was exactly above her shoe, so some people wanted her to take of her shoe, but I told them that it might be a big risk and could potentially enlarge the wound. In case of doubt, the doctors know better than you, so let them take care of it. We stopped the bleeding, which is our part of the job. Also, I saw myself talk reassuringly, more than I have ever done. It felt great. It still does.
When all was done, people told me they really admired our courage in the situation. The driver and me thanked each other for a job well done, and the trip went on. My reward was at home waiting for me. A quarter of an hour longer than necessary, but worth it: Two new cels.
Gorgeous as she is, she has no markings. A warning sign, seeing as it could potentially be a fake. The quality matches another cel of mine though (a perk of the collector), and I can safely assume it is 100% real. I can't fully say which episode she comes from, but I gather it's late S1, maybe S2. I'd have to re-watch a couple of episodes, which I have to do anyway, seeing as I missed two cels already. By quality I reckon it is either a B or C grade cel, not key.
Ah yes, another pride for my collection. An A-11 AND B-8 cel, meaning it's been used for two scenes, I can't quite place my finger on the season yet, but I'll recognize this one when it comes by. The cel came with matching sketch, sans mouth, and, and this was a really good feeling for me, my first background. Backgrounds are of course all hand painted as well, some can be airbrushed, for flashiness. This one is moderately simple, but suits the cel nonetheless.
Feel better? Yes, I do. Now I need to get ready for bed, because I missed out on a lot of sleep lately, with the hot weather and all.
