End-of-day report
Jan. 2nd, 2007 08:04 pmFirst day at the job. The job is awesome. Traveling there isn't. In fact, it sucks. THAT is the reason I'm glad it's only for 2 months. Still, I'm happy I got it for now. The people I met there are mad. Awesome mad. I may or may not have said this before, but when everything's set up, I'll be operator of 2 GC's. The job is autonomous as racing, but still ok, and once more I'll make an impact on the field of research. I'm looking for the cow that gives the milk with the most Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Warm the milk, skim the top off, warm, again the top thing, but now while it's still warm. Derivatize, inject, quantify. simple as 1-2-5.
Still, I have to get up as early as I did when I went to Apeldoorn, which is kinda teh suck, but I think I'll manage this month. Might be able to drive with a co-worker in February. Actually, I could do it right now, but I just got a month-subscription to the public transportation and it would be a waste of money to go with co-workers right now. 'Sides, soon I'll have finished Fight Club, the book and I can switch to the Bourne books, as soon as I get those.
The equipment isn't all here yet, and the samples will arrive next week. To make matters worse, the freezer went brokey last week, and standards got lost in the other, WAY HUGER freezer. Huger, as in bigger than my room. Hell, bigger than my room and mom's attached to it. Damn, that's one huge freezer. And cold. XP
The public transportation in Deventer is CRAP. Crap, as in I got to catch a bus that drives circles three times in the morning, and three times in the afternoon, otherwise, I'll have to walk another kilometer to work, like I had to do today, twice. Tired, yes. And this is just the beginning, but I can do this.
